A Touch of NSW in good old Queensland

To start WOW, I know for many wine lovers Flame Hill might not seem such a wonder, but when you find a small Vineyard in Queensland that is this good it is truly amazing.

I found Montville for the first time when attending a friends wedding and I am so glad I did, I brought my partner in crime with me a few years later  for a quiet baby moon after a work conference on the Gold Coast and was able to explore a bit more  and hence found this little Vineyard / Winery.

If you wish to hear more about the wines made and sold from the cellar door please check out my review in the Vino page, in this section I will focus on the restaurant and the venue as a whole.

So this lovely little place is nestled a whopping 4.8 Km's from Montville proper and takes about 5 minutes to drive too, (Unfortunately Montville doesn't have many taxi's so I was driving ) so we decided to do a  wine tasting / early lunch.

The wines here are truly great and the food well lets say the chef knows his craft and has done a wonderful job of marrying the wines to the menu.

The food

The most important part so I ordered the dish called The Forest and honestly I could not have been happier, the quality was superb.

The venison was cooked beautifully and the chocolate jus was great, I broke with tradition and accompanied it with a Montville Shiraz not the Merlot as recommended and I was in heaven.(see Pic 2)

My partner ordered the Flame Hill Station Black Angus Beef Burger and it was a gem, hats off the pumpkin roll was brilliant, steak was cooked perfectly to order and the beetroot relish and aged cheddar made it truly something special, lets just say she didn't exactly finish it. (Pic 3)

All up it was a great dining experience I just wish I had more time to spend here, I could easily have spent the afternoon  drinking the fine reds and watching the rain over the vineyard really a great spot.

Price: Well like all good things not cheap but worth every penny.

Service: Excellent, my partner was even given a blanket as it was somewhat cold, but the patio is heated so don't let that scare you.

One more notable the bar tender knows his stuff, I didn't leave empty handed and I definitely enjoyed sharing in his knowledge of the wine in the area.

Check out the Links below for more information, I did notice guest houses are available and they look terrific.

Have you visited the Flame Hill Vineyard ? Let me know your thoughts below I welcome them all.
